Detroit NAACP Hosts National Forum On Intolerance

DETROIT (WWJ) - The Detroit Branch of the NAACP is inviting everyone to a National Forum on intolerance to be held on Saturday, April 30th.

WWJ's Florence Walton reports that the forum will address the problems of hate crimes, bullying and immigration.

The forum, titled "From Symbols of Hate to Portraits of Understanding," will host by Detroit Branch NAACP President Wendell Anthony on April 30.

"We want to bring people together so that we can dial-up, and talk about these issues. Anybody that has issue with symbolism or issues of how people have come together, you ought to be at this session. It's free, its open. This is the place to come and to state your concerns and your discussions. We invite anybody and everybody to come and be a part of it," Anthony said.

The forum will bring together members of the Muslim, African American, Native American, Latino, Jewish and Gay communities to address, identify the problems and prescribe some solutions for these very serious matters.

The discussion will take place at the UAW General Motors building, located at 200 Walker Street in downtown Detroit.
