Detroit Lions Notes And Quotes 10-24-11

LINEUP WATCH
The Lions played without starting running back Jahvid Best (concussion) and ran the ball fairly well. Maurice Morris and Keiland Williams each carried the ball nine times for a combined 94 yards and no negative yardage runs. Where Best was missed most was in the controlled passing game. Morris had just two catches for 13 yards, a big drop-off there.

Newly signed Eldra Buckley played only on special teams, which will probably be the case again in Denver.

The Lions won't give a timetable on Best, but it's likely he won't return until after the bye.

TRENDING
The offense is completely out of sync. The Lions were 1-for-12 on third-down conversions and 0-for-2 in the red zone. Matthew Stafford continues to look harried, bailing out of the pocket early, especially on third-down plays. The play when he got hurt, on a fourth down, he bailed out of the pocket early, running to his left so that he was forced to throw across his body. He completed just 15 of 32 passes and had a 75.4 passer rating. He put too much air under a long pass to Calvin Johnson. Johnson was wide open, but having to wait for the ball allowed the defender to catch up. Stafford also threw behind Johnson on a crossing route in the end zone.
