Detroit Gets Millions In Funding

The Motor City receiving millions of dollars in funding for "game-changing" innovations.

Living Cities, a collaborative of 22 of the world's largest foundations and financial institutions, announcing Thursday that Detroit is one of five cities chosen as winners in the new Integration Initiative, which supports game-changing innovations that address intractable problems affecting low income people - continuing Living Cities' 20-year commitment to Detroit, which has resulted in millions of dollars for community initiatives.

This money will be used along the Woodward Corridor to assist low income residents and to boost investment in the area. Detroit joins with four other cities - which include Baltimore, Cleveland, Newark and the Twin Cities region of Minneapolis/St. Paul - that will benefit from $80 million in grants and other investment. And, after talks with the Obama administration, Mayor Dave Bing says he's sure even more money is headed to the city.
