Detroit Demolition Crew Turns Up 2 Old Artillery Shells

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say a crew preparing a Detroit house for demolition found two old artillery shells.

The house on Marlowe Street, on the city's west side, had been vacant for several years before the shells were found Thursday, WXYZ-TV reported. The Detroit bomb squad said the devices weren't at risk of exploding, but they were removed as a precaution for disposal.

Such discoveries happen from time to time and Detroit police are urging anyone who comes across such material to use caution and contact authorities.
