THE DEFENSE

Q: Hi Brian! Thank you for participating in Defend Your Ride Detroit. What is your ride and when did you get it?

A: My car is a 2006 Pontiac Montana. I got it about two years ago, Summer 2010, after my old car, a '96 Monte Carlo, got T-boned by a drunk driver.

Q: That's no good. How many miles are on your van?

A: Well, 79,569. About 19,000 of those are mine. I drive it a lot but not very far. Though, I was commuting to MSU for a while and now I drive out to Toledo on weekends.

Q: What are you using this badboy for?

A: Getting from point A to point B as quick as possible. That even goes along with how I got it, like, "Hmmm, do I want to get a new car or just use my mom's old car?" Yeah, point A to point B. From "Brian can't drive" to "Brian can drive."

Q: So it's a hotrod minivan?

A: It's actually got a decent motor behind it. I just wish that it would stop going bad. It's been replaced under warranty before.

Q: Tell us, what's your absolute favorite feature?

A: I guess on some level my favorite thing about the car is the amount of storage space I have. I moved myself into school the last two years that I was up. It was really easy, just one trip and all that. Also, it's nice being able to straight up just drive seven other people somewhere!

Q: So it's a party van?

A: More like a party transport van. The party happens once the van stops.

Q: You seem like a cool guy. So what would your fantasy, dream car or even next future car be?

A: Next car? It might have rockets on it. I'm kind of planning on driving this one into the ground. It was free because my mom gave it to me. I have no desire to buy my own car. I'm probably going to hold that off as long as possible, at least a couple years from now. You never know how technology is gonna go. Might as well buy one of those crazy two wheeled cars from the movie Tron with the balancing inside of it that get like, 300 miles to the gallon. Those are pretty sick, but they'd be a death trap if not everyone was riding them!

Q: Well thanks for your time man, good luck with your next future car!

A: You're welcome.
