Can't Wait For "The Help?" Facebook To The Rescue
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) – Plenty of praise has been heaped upon "The Help," the book debut from first-time novelist Kathryn Stockett.
The Associated Press describes "The Help" as "at turns hilarious and heart-wrenching." People Magazine gives it four out of five stars, calling it a "wise, poignant novel," adding that "you'll catch yourself cheering out loud." And The New York Daily News says it's a "story with heart and hope…a good old-fashioned novel."
On top of all of that, "The Help" was selected as the 2010 Indies Choice Book of the Year, as well as the Southern Independent Bookseller's Association's Book of the Year and it is a #1 New York Times bestseller.
Now, "The Help" is being turned into a major motion picture. It stars Emma Stone ("Easy A") as Skeeter, Academy Award®-nominated Viola Davis ("Doubt") as Aibileen and Octavia Spencer as Minny, three very different women in 1960's Mississippi. The three build an unlikely friendship around a secret writing project that breaks societal rules and puts them all at risk.
In anticipation of the August 10th release date, Dreamworks Pictures and Participant Media's The Help Social Video Player has been launched on Facebook. Its goal is to give fans an opportunity to share their comments and thoughts about the film. And, it appears that fans are embracing it. The Help community already has posted about fashion, décor and key moments from the book.
Check it out on Facebook and feel free to add your own voice.
