Cable Providers Respond To Outages In Flooded Metro Detroit

By Edward Cardenas

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Cable providers in metro Detroit are working to restore service following Monday's storms, but impassable roads are slowing their work.

Comcast is reporting that outages are spread out throughout the region, according to Michelle Gilbert, vice president, Comcast Cable Heartland Region.

She added that crews are working to restore service, but are hindered by the flooding.

"We have to be cleared by the authorities to get to the sites," said Gilbert.

She did not have a number of outages, or a breakdown on which were caused due to downed lines and which were due to power outages.

Some AT&T customers may be experiencing issues with their wireline services due to severe weather and flooding, wrote Teresa Mask, AT&T spokesperson. AT&T technicians are working diligently to resolve the issue, she added, and stated "We apologize for this inconvenience."
