Boy Hit By Minivan At Michigan Campground

COHOCTAH TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 4-year-old boy has been injured after falling out of a minivan driven by his mother at a Michigan campground.

The Livingston County sheriff's department says a 27-year-old woman from Flat Rock was driving at Water's Edge campground in Cohoctah Township on Wednesday night with three children unrestrained inside and the van's sliding doors left open.

Investigators say the woman was driving slowly to the front of the campground to drop off garbage when the boy fell out. He was hit before she could stop, and was taken by helicopter to an Ann Arbor hospital in stable but temporary serious condition.

The other children weren't injured. No charges were immediately announced and the sheriff's department is investigating.

The campground is located about 50 miles northwest of Detroit.
