Boxing Day Entices Shoppers Across The Border
WINDSOR (WWJ) - The day after Christmas is always a holiday across the border in Canada. Boxing day was traditionally a day when those whoe were well off gave presents to their servants or the poor.
Now it's all about the shopping ... according to Sandra Facchineri of the Devonshire Mall.
"There is a big hype for Boxing Day, it's the day that people come and spend the money they received for Christmas, or they use up the gift cards ... huge day here," said Facchineri.
"Driving in this morning the parking lot was already full and there was a lot of good traffic coming in. Mall traffic is incredible there is people everywhere - the food court ... everybody is eating early and it's just a large number of shoppers in here today - for sure," said Facchineri.
Facchineri says there are extended hours...until 8pm...and just like in the US, a lot of big bargains for those looking to spend their gift cards.
