Body found in Livonia creek identified as Westland man reported missing 2 years ago, police say
A body found in a creek in Livonia, Michigan, was identified as a 75-year-old Westland man who was reported missing two years ago, Livonia police said on Thursday.
Police say the body of James Sanford was found on March 28, 2026, in the area of Hines Drive and Levan Road. Police say Sanford suffered from dementia and was reported missing in April 2024.
The medical examiner's office confirmed Sanford's identity through dental records, according to police. Police say the body was "severely decomposed" and partially submerged in the creek.
The cause of death is unknown.
Livonia police did not release any additional information at this time.
An investigation is ongoing.
