Black Iron Days Festival Kicks Off In Grayling

GRAYLING (WWJ) - What's billed as Michigan's largest annual gathering of blacksmiths is turning back the clock this weekend near Grayling ... in Michigan upper lower peninsula.

The two-day Black Iron Days Festival at Hartwick Pines State Park kicked off Saturday with more than 50 craftsmen and women ... demonstrating their trade.

The event recreates a historic sawmill, and features woodworkers, weavers and wool spinners reminiscent of Michigan's white pine logging era of the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The event is free but a state Recreation Passport is required for vehicles coming into the park.
