Bill's Blog: Bless You Boys
We were talking about teams who come up with rallying songs today on the show. There have been some classics such as Prince's Minnesota Vikings tribute, 'Purple And Gold'. And don't forget the Pittsburgh Steelers song 'Black And Yellow' by Wiz Khalifa. Nothing though, will top the song that was created in 1984 as a rallying cry for the Detroit Tigers, 'Bless You Boys'. A term coined by then channel 4 sports guy, Al Ackerman. Al was saying it sarcastically the year before as a rip on the (as he saw it) underperforming Tigers. Here's hoping the 2011 Tigers can provide some great memories like the '84 team did.
