Beverly Hills Cop Hospitalized After Chase, Crash

SOUTHFIELD  (WWJ) - A Beverly Hills police officer is recovering at the hospital after a police chase ended in a crash.

Police wouldn't reveal the officer's condition or identity, but did say he's been with the Beverly Hills Department for about ten years. He's being treated at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.

Southfield police say the incident started around 12:35 a.m. Thursday when they were called to the TGI Fridays on Evergreen Road in reference to an armed suspect. When police arrived at the restaurant, the suspect allegedly fled the parking lot in a vehicle.

Police say they chased the suspect northbound on Evergreen Road until he lost control of his vehicle north of 13 Mile Road and crashed into a parked, occupied Beverly Hills Public Safety Officer's vehicle.

The suspect, whose identity was not released, was arrested at the scene and transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries, the extent of which are unknown at this time.

An investigation is ongoing.
