Beautiful, Sunny Weekend In Store With Temps In 70s

DETROIT (WWJ) - You couldn't ask for better spring weather than what we're expected to get this weekend.

CBS 62 Chief Meteorologist Jim Madaus said things will kick off Friday, the first day of May, with a bang.

"What a terrific weather day here in Detroit today," said Madaus. "We're looking at temperatures in the 70s, above normal for this time of year. A five-star day in metro Detroit."

With only a few clouds overnight, temperatures will dip just below 50 -- setting the stage for yet another bright forecast.

"The sun is sticking around through the weekend, with a high around 72 on Saturday and 75 degrees on Sunday," said Madaus. But here's where things start to go sour. "A system coming in late Sunday into Monday could bring some showers and storms."

Even though we'll see some precipitation next week, it's not all that bad.

"We'll stay relatively mild, at least at or above normal for the next seven days, right around 70 degrees," said Madaus.

Here's the local forecast from the CBS Detroit weather team:

Friday: Sunny and pleasant. High 71F. Low 47F.

Saturday: Pleasant with plenty of sun. High 73F. Low 52F.

Sunday: Sunny, along with a few afternoon clouds. High near 75F. Low 56F.

Monday: Partly cloudy in the morning. Thunderstorms developing later in the day. High around 75F. Low 53F.

Tuesday: Showers in the morning, then partly cloudy in the afternoon. High 63F. Low near 50F.
