'Armed And Dangerous' Suspect Wanted In Attempted Murder Of 2 Kids In Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police are on the hunt for a man suspected in the attempted murder of two small children in Detroit.

The crime happened Monday, Nov. 28, in the 700 block of Connor near East Jefferson and Dickerson avenues.on the city's east side.

According to police, shots were fired and a barricaded gunman situation was declared after two armed suspects entered the home. The pair allegedly robbed one of the adults inside while holding another at gunpoint, and ultimately setting the house on fire in an attempt to flee, leaving the kids  — 2-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy — inside.

The children were rescued by first responders and taken to Children's Hospital for treatment of  after suffering from smoke inhalation.

One of the suspects, a 38-year old man, was taken into custody upon exiting the home. The second suspect, identified by police as 31-year old Julian Coleman, fled the scene and remained at large on Friday.

He is described as a black male, around 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 160 lbs., with black hair, brown eyes and a tattoo of an eagle on his upper right arm.

Police have released photos of Coleman in hopes that someone in the public has seen him.

He said he is to be considered to be armed and dangerous.
