Ann Arbor High School Wins Grammy Gold
ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Ann Arbor's Pioneer High School has won the National Grammy Signature School Award from the Grammy Foundation. It is the first time any school has been given the top award twice. Pioneer last won the top Grammy in 2006.
David Leach, Pioneer's Director of Bands and Performing Arts Department Chair, told WWJ that winning the top prize is testament to the hard work and dedication of every music teacher in the Ann Arbor Public School District.
"It shows that our elementary and middle school teachers really do an amazing job, preparing the students , so by the time we get them in high school, they continue that journey to excellence," Leach said.
Pioneer High School will receive the top prize of $15,000, presented by the Grammy Foundation at a community concert at Hill Auditorium Thursday night (May 26) at 8 p.m. The public is welcome to this free event.
