$9,000 Ring Stolen From Mall, Police Looking For Suspect
ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - The bold theft of an expensive ring in Roseville before Christmas has police on the hunt.
WWJ's Brian Larsen reports that Roseville police hope a surveillance video will help track down the man they say swiped a ring valued at $9,000 from the Sears at Macomb Mall earlier this month. Roseville Deputy Police Chief James Berlin said the man made a quick run from the store.
"We've had it happen here in Roseville, but it has not been common," said Berlin.
"As he viewed each piece - they progressed in value - and when she handed him a ring that was approximately $9,000 the suspect grabbed the ring and just fled from the store," said Berlin. "Got away with 'I'll pay for the ring', unfortunately."
Berlin said -- on the fortunate side -- the store snapped a very clear picture of the suspect.
Berlin describes the thief as a black man about 5' 6" to 5' 8", medium build with a goatee.
