4 Police Officers, 3 Citizens Hospitalized After Crash

DETROIT (WWJ) - Four Detroit police officers and three people were taken to the hospital after an accident on the city's east side.

The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of East McNichols and Gratiot Avenue.

According to police, two cruisers crashed into each other while responding to back another unit on a priority call. Officers lost control of both vehicles, which collided with a total of three other vehicles in the intersection.

The four officers and three drivers involved -- a 21-year-old man, 30-year-old woman and 66-year-old woman -- were all taken to nearby hospitals. All were last reported in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
