21-Year-Old Dies In Cell At Traverse City Jail
TRAVERSE CITY (AP) - Police say a 21-year-old Traverse City man arrested for violating his probation has died in a cell at the Grand Traverse County Jail.
The sheriff's department has asked city police to investigate the death, which was discovered Friday night. They haven't released the man's name.
Authorities say the jail staff booked the man about 4 p.m. that day for violating his probation and put him in an observation cell.
They say officers later saw he wasn't breathing, and resuscitation efforts failed. There are no reported signs of foul play or suicide.
