2 In Custody After Man Allegedly Assaulted At Eastpointe Wake
EASTPOINTE (WWJ) - Police say two men in custody following an assault at a home where people had reportedly gathered for a wake.
The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 2300 block of Schroeder, in a neighborhood just west of Kelly and 9 Mile roads in Eastpointe.
People had gathered at the home for a wake, according to reports, when an argument erupted over an item that belonged to the deceased. The argument turned physical and a 52-year-old Detroit man was assaulted. He was taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening head injury.
Police later arrested a 49-year-old Detroit man and a 34-year-old Warren man in connection with the case.
Other details surrounding the incident weren't immediately released. Police say they initially responded to the house on a report of someone being shot, but found that no gun was involved.
The incident remains under investigation.
