2 Arrested, 3rd Sought In Outlet Mall Thefts
HOWELL TWP. (AP) - Authorities say they've arrested two people they suspect traveled to Michigan from either New York or Florida to steal from an outlet shopping center.
Livingston County Sheriff Bob Bezotte tells the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus of Howell that a woman also was being sought.
Investigators believe they stole about $5,000 in merchandise Saturday from two stores at the Tanger Outlet Center in Howell Township.
Bezotte said Monday an investigation indicates they've been targeting outlet stores around the country.
Investigators traced a license plate number to a rental vehicle that was due to be returned at Detroit Metropolitan Airport in Romulus and arrested the pair.
Bezotte says the woman checked five bags believed to contain the stolen merchandise that were flown to LaGuardia Airport in New York.
