Witness: Man Said He Shot His Son

DENVER (CBS4)- One man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting in the Sloan's Lake neighborhood that left one man dead. One witness told CBS4 the man admitted to shooting his son.

The shooting happened outside a home on Vrain Street and 16th Drive just before 10 p.m. Saturday. Police arrested Dannie Clark.

A medical assistant who lives in the neighborhood where the shooting happened said she was at the right place at the wrong time when a fight turned deadly Saturday night.

"He was barely breathing, gasping for air every time he took a breath," said the witness.

The witness says she heard gunshots from her bedroom window. When she went outside to help, she found a man in the middle of the street with four gunshot wounds to the chest while the suspect was close by. The victim has been identified as Temujin Clark, 43.

"I saw a gentleman lying at the bottom of his feet and he was on the phone with somebody," the witness said. "There was a gun right next to him."

The woman says Clark claimed to be the victim's father and admitted the gun was his.

"He straight out said, 'I shot my son,'" said the witness. "He looked like he wasn't very remorseful."

The Good Samaritan says as she took the victim's pulse while waiting for police to arrive on scene, she realized a party earlier in the day may have caused a drunken dispute.

"The victim smelled like alcohol and I could smell the liquor coming from the father as well," the witness said.

While Sean Parker, a neighbor, says he's glad to know the shooting wasn't random, he says still can't believe it happened so close to home.

"It wasn't like an intruder type of situation that made me feel better about the neighborhood but it was just kind of sad overall," Parker said.

Clark, 62, remains in custody on a first-degree murder charge and was expected to appear in court Monday morning. The victim has not been identified.
