Website Allows Users To Turn Everyday Objects Into Money Makers

DENVER (CBS4) - Those who are short on cash and have lots of items sitting around the house may be overlooking some money making opportunities.
A new website is arriving in Denver which allows users to turn everyday objects into money makers. It's an odd concept to some but others are tapping into the idea.
It's an idea that started with a woman and a motorcycle, according to SnapGoods.com CEO Ronald J. Williams. He was courting a lady he wanted to impress her by picking her up on a rented motorcycle.
"I spent $150 instead of $8,000 for a great weekend and she was so impressed the last few months I asked her to marry me and she said, 'Yes.' So SnapGoods gets the girl," Williams said.
Williams started SnapGoods.com -- a website that users can rent out anything from a kayak to a food processer to power tools to ski equipment.
Kristin Campbell rented out her car.
"I have had several really positive rental experiences," Campbell said.
The website allows people to connect and negotiate their own deals.
The oddest item that's been rented? Williams immediately answered, "A disco ball. I was surprised when someone wanted a disco ball and then surprised someone posted it for them and the transaction happened."
SnapGoods attempts to screen consumers by asking for validating information, including a credit card number and an email address. CBS4 still urges users to be careful.
