Virtual Garage Sale Has The Deals Without The Drive
DENVER (CBS4)- If you like garage sales, but grow weary of driving around and spending gas money to track down a bargain, there's a new option for bargain hunters. A virtual garage sale of sorts, blockmarkets.com, offers specific items for sale in a specific neighborhood.
Stapleton resident Phil Lockwood, has a garage full of items he wants to sell, but doesn't want to haul them into his yard.
"Anything you might sell at a garage sale or yard sale, you can post free on this website. It's only accessible, available to the residents of your neighborhood. We verify the residency of everyone who uses the site so you know you're only dealing with your neighbors," said Lockwood.
The site has sections for clothes, furniture, sporting equipment as well as coupons and gift certificates. CBS4's Money Saver Suzanne McCarroll found car tires, a massage tables and scuba diving equipment among the pages of Stapleton items.
If your neighborhood doesn't yet have blockmarkets.com all you have to do is recruit 25 neighbors to express interest and the website will include your area.
Bargain shoppers out cruising the streets this summer say they like the concept because they can now bargain hunt from their air conditioned homes without spending money on gasoline.
