Entertainer Hula Hoops Her Way To Union Station
DENVER (CBS) - Union Station will host its first-ever Buskerfest this weekend.
Among the performers will be Anabelle Hoops, a hula hoop dancer from Toronto, Canada.
Hoops explained on CBS4 News at Noon on Thursday just what a buskerfest is.
"There's going to be tons of artists. It's a chance for all the artists to be on the street and do what we do best," she said.
"There's going to be jugglers, there's going to be fire performances, there's going to be myself as a hula hooper. There's going to be face-painting for the kids. It's going to be super fun," Hoops explained, "But as it is a buskerfest, it means the audience can come down and at the end of the show and tip."
For Hoops, the road to Denver started with dance.
"I don't even really remember hula hooping that much as a kid. I always danced. I was always in tap and ballet and jazz.
"I originally started out in musical theater and dance, then I transitioned."
That transition came when she moved to Toronto (That's where she admits she ran away and joined the circus.)
"I met Zero Gravity Circus and they kind of helped me launch my career so in a way, I kind of did run away and join a circus," she said.
And yes, Hoops makes a living with her hula hooping. She runs her own entertainment business where she performs for corporate events, birthday parties and buskerfests.
