Thanksgiving Travel Forecast Looking Good For Those Who Get An Early Start

By Chris Spears

DENVER (CBS4) - With Thanksgiving now a week away many are starting to wonder what the weather will be like.

If you're traveling Sunday, Monday or Tuesday the forecast is looking nice and mild statewide with no major weather systems in the area.

But it gets really interesting looking at Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

That's because long range forecast models are indicating a new storm system will move into the Pacific Northwest and be positioned somewhere near the coast of Oregon by late Tuesday.

If that area of low pressure develops the next question will be where does it go?

Right now computer models drop the storm system into the Great Basin which would allow it to tap into moisture from the subtropical jet stream and pull down some colder air from Canada.

If this happens there's a good chance we'll start to see some impacts across Colorado just in time for the holiday.

We'll keep a close eye on this over the next few days and keep you updated from Colorado's Weather Center.
