Suspect driver arrested in Denver hit and run that left bicyclist seriously injured
Thanks to the community's help, Denver police say they have arrested a suspect involved in a hit-and-run on Aug. 4 that left one person seriously injured.
Investigators say Giana Gennetta was driving a Cadillac Escalade at the intersection of E. Arizona Avenue and S. Milwaukee Street around 4:44 p.m. when she ran the stop sign. Police say she struck a person riding a bicycle and then left the scene.
Initially, police released a photo of the Escalade involved, hoping the community could help identify the suspect. They said the SUV sustained heavy front-end damage and a broken windshield in the crash.
On Thursday, police arrested Gennetta in connection with the investigation. They said she is facing charges of careless driving resulting in serious injury or death and leaving the scene of a crash.
The police department thanked the public for the tips they provided that helped investigators with the case.
