CBS4's Lookout Mountain Cam Caught A Beautiful Sun Pillar Over Denver Thursday Morning
DENVER (CBS4) - Mother Nature treated Denver to a cool light optic just after sunrise on Thursday. Around 6:40 a.m. we caught a sun pillar over the city as we looked east from our CBS4 camera on the side of Lookout Mountain.

A sun pillar is a vertical beam of light that extends either up or down from the rising or setting sun. They form when the sunlight reflects off the surfaces of tiny ice crystals suspended in the air.
The ice crystals are usually associated with a bank of clouds.
