Officials Investigate Reports Of Small Plane Into Colorado River

MESA COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4)- Emergency responders are investigating a report of a small plane into the Colorado River.

The plane apparently went into the river near the Colorado-Utah border.

The Mesa County Sheriff tweeted an update that the 59-year-old pilot is conscious and breathing but does have some injuries. The pilot is being helped to safety by a passerby who was rafting in the Colorado River.

The plane is believed to be a Kitfox aircraft and is reportedly partially submerged in the river.

Officials with the Mesa County Sheriff's Office and the Lower Valley Fire District are responding to the reports of the plane in the river.
