Red Rocks Has New Rules For Buying Tickets

DENVER (CBS4)- Red Rocks is implementing new rules for buying tickets. The biggest changes involve the first four rows of the amphitheatre, including handicap seats.

There are two designated sections for wheelchair accessibility, the last row and the front row. Of the 9,500 seats, 78 are wheelchair accessible. Historically, the front row seats have not been reserved for people with disabilities. The venue is not allowed to ask about people's abilities and so sells the tickets on a first come, first serve basis. That relegates people with disabilities to the back of the amphitheatre.

Some concertgoers call that a disappointing experience.

"It's more being away from everyone else, being behind everyone else, having all this other noise, and then not having the noise you want to hear, i.e. the band playing," said Kirk Williams.

Williams and five others joined together to file a Federal lawsuit against the City of Denver, the owner and operator of the venue.

Red Rocks Amphitheatre is one of the premier concert venues in the world.
