Punch Bowl Social's Stapleton Location To Remain Closed For Good
DENVER (CBS4)- The Stapleton location of Punch Bowl Social will remain closed, for good. According to the company, the reason is a dispute with the landlord.
The location was also the company's headquarters. It opened at the site of the old Stapleton Airport control tower nearly three years ago.
Punch Bowl Social closed all locations nationwide due to the coronavirus pandemic in March.
The chain plans on reopening its flagship location on Broadway in Denver but not under the current Colorado COVID-19 guidelines for restaurants that restrict the number of customers.
Robert Thompson, founder and CEO of Punch Bowl Social, released this statement to CBS4: In this new reality, landlords cannot expect to maintain status quo economic terms that were negotiated in pre-pandemic times.
We appreciate that landlords are trying to ensure the success of their businesses, however, we were unable to reach satisfactory new terms to move forward with our Stapleton, CO and Schaumburg, IL landlord. As such, we determined it was in Punch Bowl Social's best interest to sever ties. We will not be re-opening either of the locations but are looking forward to welcoming guests in the future to our original downtown Denver - South Broadway and downtown Chicago - West Loop locations which serve both of those markets.
Punch Bowl Social is a lifestyle brand that transcends a single location. When we re-open across the country, we will do so smartly and with partners who are in it with us. Moving forward, we will only be working with landlords with whom we can establish suitable and mutually beneficial terms.
