Pee Wee Football Team Competes In Super Bowl With Special Motivation
ORLANDO, Fla. (CBS4) - The Pop Warner Divison II Jr. Pee Wee football team from Fort Collins advanced to the second round of the 59th annual Pop Warner Super Bowl this weekend.
The Outlaws, ages 8 - 10, competed at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando on Saturday and defeated the Wenatchee Hawks 38-8.
Teammate Jackson Simpson, 11, was not able to compete as he is undergoing chemotherapy for a tumor found in his chest. It has further inspired The Outlaws.
"Everybody was emotional about Jackson, and when we found out, we practiced harder and we hit harder," Simpson's teammate Mason Shattuck said.
The Outlaws will play their second round game on Tuesday, Dec. 8. Two other Denver area teams are in the championship.
