Only In Federal Heights: Strip Club Wins City Holiday Lights Contest
FEDERAL HEIGHTS, Colo. (CBS4)- The City of Federal Heights announced Tuesday night that its only strip club- Platinum 84- won first place for the best holiday lighting display by a business.
"It shows the pride we take in the community," said R. Scott Reisch, the owner of the club.
The city awarded Platinum 84 a $100 prize for placing first in the contest. The club immediately donated the money to a police charity in Federal Heights which benefits needy families around the holidays. The club also donated another $500 to a food bank supported by the city.
Mayor Joyce Thomas said of the strip club's holiday lights, "Look at 'em. They're nice lights. They've been good neighbors. I'm sure the lighting brightens up the area. It really looks nice."
Thomas said there were just three entries in the holiday lighting category for businesses. This was the first year the topless club entered the competition.
Thomas acknowledged some might scoff at Federal Heights awarding top holiday lighting honors to a strip club but said, "I don't have a problem with it."
She said the judging this year was done by spouses of current and former Federal Heights politicians.
