Nonprofit Donates Exoskeleton Devices To Help Wounded Vets In Colorado

DENVER (CBS4) - The VA has a new tool to help veterans in Colorado.

An exoskeleton device is a wearable robotic suit that helps paralyzed patients like Dan Rose walk again. Rose was a combat engineer for the Army stationed in Afghanistan when his Jeep hit a roadside bomb.

Rose was paralyzed from the waist down and calls the exoskeleton life-changing.

"I mean it definitely helps just with kind of your self-image and self-esteem. You kind of get used to just sitting in a chair all the time, so to be able to stand up and look across a room at eye level again is just probably the hugest impact it has," Rose said.

The nonprofit SoldierStrong donated the medical tool to the VA's Eastern Colorado Health Care System. It's the 10th suit SoldierStrong has donated to the VA Medical Centers.
