Man Boasts On Twitter About Hacking In-Flight Networks On United Airlines Planes

DENVER (CBS4) - A man is under investigation after he says he hacked into an airplane computer system from on board the flight.

Computer security expert Chris Roberts claims he gained access to in-flight networks as many as 15 times.

Last month United Airlines' security stopped Roberts from boarding a flight from Colorado to California after he joked on Twitter about making a plane's oxygen masks deploy.

Roberts also told the FBI he accessed a plane's controls through the in-flight entertainment system using just his laptop and an Ethernet cable. United denies those claims. But federal officials say with more and more modern aircraft connected to the Internet hackers can potentially gain access.
