Downslope Winds Warmed Us Well Above Normal to Start the Week
By Ed Greene
DENVER (CBS4) - Monday saw gusty winds around the greater metro area and foothills - but they were downslope warming winds which helped push the official Denver high to nearly 20 degrees above normal when we topped out at 63 degrees! For Tuesday, it should be more of the same as the high should climb back into the lower 60s.
For Wednesday, a cold front will back onto the eastern plains and that will drop the temperatures to a more seasonal high in the mid 40s. This cold air will also have moisture in it and as a result some light snow or freezing drizzle could fall Wednesday night into Thursday. The high Thursday will only reach the lower 40s.
As we end the week and head into the weekend, we're back to partly sunny skies. The highs will warm to near 50 on Friday and into the low 50s for Saturday and mid 50s for Sunday with mostly sunny skies.
