'Kids Count' Survey Event Held At State Capitol

DENVER (CBS4) - An annual survey found when it comes to how Colorado children are doing, it depends where they live.

Children and cut-out dolls filled the Capitol rotunda as part of the Kids Count event Tuesday. Speakers included Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia, who said the information from the survey helps keep Colorado strong.

"We need to make sure that all of our young people have the opportunity to develop and to thrive and to make our state ultimately a stronger state," Garcia said.

Garcia pointed to the state lawmakers behind him, saying they always have to do their best to make sure Colorado's children have the tools they need to succeed.
