Juvenile Escapes From Detention Facility In Lone Tree

LONE TREE, Colo. (CBS4) - Police in Lone Tree and the Denver metro area are looking for a teenager who escaped from the Division of Youth Corrections at about 9:42 a.m. Thursday.

Police said the 16-year-old Hispanic boy had a doctor's appointment. On the way, the teen faked an illness and requested the driver to pull over. Once the vehicle was stopped at Interstate 25 and C-470, the teen jumped from the vehicle and ran south.

The teen was chased into the Heritage Hills community before officers lost sight of him.

That's when Lone Tree Elementary Magnet School was put on lockout while reverse 911 calls went out to the neighborhood surrounding the school.

That was lifted at 11:20 a.m. and a second reverse 911 call was sent to the community stating that the suspect was no longer believed to be in the area but requested that residents be on the lookout.
