Illness Forces Children's Hospital Not To Accept New Patients
DENVER (CBS4) - Some units at The Children's Hospital are not accepting new patients due to a gastrointestinal illness.
In a statement Children's said Monday that measures have been put in place to stop the spread of the illness.
Right now the problem is in the psych unit.
The hospital has identified the virus as the norovirus, a common stomach virus. It affects the stomach and intestines and causes nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. It's commonly associated with outbreaks of food poisoning on cruise ships, but it's not unheard of to have outbreaks in households and health care facilities.

The units are expected to begin opening to new patients later this week.
