I-25 reopens in Northern Colorado after semi crash sparks brush fire early Wednesday morning

Northbound lanes of I-25 were closed in Northern Colorado for several hours early Wednesday morning after a crash involving two semis that sparked a brush fire. According to the Colorado Department of Transportation, the closure was between Colorado Highway 14 and exit 271- Mountain Vista Drive.

According to the Colorado State Patrol, troopers responded to a report of a crash between two semis around 5:24 a.m. near mile marker 275. Investigators said both semis were traveling in the same direction. No injuries were reported. 

Initially, both directions of the interstate were closed, but the southbound lanes reopened a short time after the crash. 

The northbound lane closure is located near the exits for Fort Collins and just south of the town of Wellington. All lanes reopened nearly six hours later by 11 a.m.

State troopers said the crash sparked a small brush fire in the center median and it was quickly extinguished by troopers and fire personnel.
