Evacuations lifted in Colorado's Bent County despite wildfire growing

Evacuation orders have been lifted in the area near a wildfire in southeastern Colorado, despite it growing overnight Sunday.

The Bent County fire was approximately 1,000 acres in area Sunday morning, having grown from 831 acres, and is now 80% contained.

Evacuations were put in place for East of Las Animas and Fort Lyon which included a prison, while multiple agencies worked to put out the fire. 

Multiple highways are also closed due to the fire which includes Highway 101 south of Las Animas, Highway 50, Highway 194 eastbound and Highway 287 westbound. 

Agencies ask drivers to use caution and stay away from the area. 

The American Red Cross says that the evacuation center for those impacted by the fire near Fort Lyons is open.
