Hickenlooper, Beauprez Release Tax Returns
DENVER (AP) - Colorado's governor and his challenger have released years of personal tax returns.
The records given to the media Thursday showed Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper made about $467,000 in 2012. That figure includes his state salary and investments. He paid some $60,000 in federal income taxes.
Republican Bob Beauprez made about $371,000 in 2012, almost all of it from investments. He paid some $93,000 in federal income taxes.
Neither candidate has yet filed 2013 income taxes. Both filed for extensions.
Hickenlooper is a former restaurant and brewery owner. Beauprez is a former member of Congress. He was also CEO of Heritage Bank, which he sold in 2007. Since then, Beauprez has lived largely off investment income and earnings from a Jackson County buffalo ranch.
