Fore! Homeowner Dives For Cover From Golf Balls

ERIE, Colo. (CBS4)- He's had his windows smashed, cars dinged, golf balls stuck in the stucco siding of his home, and nearly been injured himself.

Now, a homeowner living next to the tee box of the 12th hole at the Colorado National Golf Course, is tired of living under fire from golf balls.

"There's a hole, there's a hole, there's one up there, there's a hole over there," said homeowner Jim Bynum as he pointed out holes in his home left from golf balls. "There are two golf balls stuck in the stucco up there."

He's counted at least 27 holes in his house. He's been ducking the balls for seven years.

His car windshield was broken last week. In that case, the golfer came forward and offered to replace it.

"The only person in seven years that I've been here, with all of the golf balls that have ended up over here bouncing off the house," said Bynum.

Bynum thought he had the best view on the block. But it's not something he said he can enjoy anymore.

"We never go out anymore because I don't want to get hit in the head with a golf ball," said Bynum.

The golf course said anyone who moved in to the area signed a notice stating they understand the risks of living on a golf course. They also said when they receive a report of damage, they go to the individual's home to speak with them. They've also changed the course to limit damage to homes.
