First Aid Kits With Explosive Material Destroyed In Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Colorado Springs police have destroyed an antique Boy Scout First Aid Kit that had a small amount of explosive material.

Police said a an unidentified citizen had previous heard about the antique Boy Scout First Aid Kits that contain a small amounts of picric acid and dropped the kit off Sunday at the fire station for disposal.

A police explosives unit removed the hazard to a safe location for destruction.

Earlier this month a bomb squad removed a donated antique first aid kit from a Colorado Springs museum after staff found an item in it labeled picric acid, a potentially explosive chemical used extensively through World War II.
