Firefighters Battle 2 Wildfires Burning In Larimer County

LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Firefighters battled two wildfires in Larimer County on Friday afternoon.

One blaze has burned about one to two acres west of Horsetooth Reservoir near Arthur's Rock in Lory State Park. As of 7:15 p.m., crews had the blaze about 10 percent contained.

Cyclists training for a race this weekend had to be evacuated. No residents were evacuated and no structures were threatened.

"At first it didn't seem too big but it was windy so I'm assuming with the wind it's just spreading and I did see lightning multiple times in the area so I ended up cutting my ride short," said mountain biker Carmen Ledesna.

Poudre Fire Authority, Larimer County Sheriff's Office, U.S. Forest Service and Colorado Parks and Wildlife crews responded to the fire which was moving upslope to the west. Its cause and origin remained under investigation.

They were fighting the fire from the ground and with water drops from the air.
