Evan Ebel's Extensive Criminal Background Started In Teen Years

DENVER (CBS4)- Evan Ebel has an extensive criminal background that started when he was just a teenager.

Ebel, 28, is the primary suspect in two murders in Colorado and a high-speed chase and shootout in Texas. Ebel is believed to have killed Nathan Leon, a pizza delivery man and Tom Clements, the executive director of the Colorado Department of Corrections.
Ebel was removed from life support and is dead after the shootout.

Ebel's life of crime started when he was just 19 years old -- a series of crimes happened within the span of a few years. His sentences were served currently, all at the same time instead of in a consecutive order.

It began in Jefferson County in October of 2003. He was arrested for robbery and felony menacing after robbing a group of people at gunpoint inside a Lakewood home. He pleaded guilty to the crime in November of 2004 was sentenced to three years in prison.

In March of 2004 he pleaded guilty to felony menacing for threatening a Commerce City couple with a gun at their home. In June of 2005 he was sentenced to three years.

In April of 2004 he pleaded guilty to assault charges and leaving the scene of an accident after carjacking a man in Commerce City and then crashing the car. He was sentenced to eight years for that crime in June of 2005.

In the mix, Ebel violated terms of a probation by being in possession of a firearm when he shot himself in the stomach and then in the leg in June of 2004.

During his prison time Ebel was also charged with assaulting a prison guard.
