Elbert County Deputy Shoots Suspect During Search
ELBERT COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) -- An Elbert County deputy shot a suspect during a search. It happened Thursday near the Kiowa Industrial Park off Highway 86.
Deputies first tried pulling over the suspect for speeding and not having license plates. Investigators say the driver took off, then got out and ran into a field. The deputy called for assistance and they set up a perimeter.
During the search, a second deputy shot the man in the abdomen. He's currently in the hospital recovering from surgery.
