Durango Businesses Dealt Blow By Animas River Spill

DURANGO, Colo. (CBS4) - Business owners in Durango will meet on Monday to discuss the impact of the Animas River spill.

The problem comes at the climax of a busy tourism season. On Sunday the city of Durango and La Plata County declared a local emergency.

More than a million gallons of toxic wastewater passed through the town on Friday. One local expert told CBS4 the water has returned to a more normal color but orange sediment still lines the river's edge

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is scheduled to hold a second public meeting Sunday night.
