Death Penalty Repeal Awaits Colorado Vote
DENVER (AP) - The future of the death penalty in Colorado could hinge on a vote scheduled in the Colorado House Tuesday.
The Judiciary Committee is scheduled to decide whether to move forward with a bill to repeal the death penalty. The committee delayed the vote last week after a marathon hearing that attracted big crowds.
Some Democrats want to repeal the penalty, but others fear the Democratic governor may not be on board.
A bill to ask voters to decide whether to repeal the death penalty is on hold in a separate committee. Three men await execution in Colorado.
