CSU Residence Hall Fire Called Suspicious

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4)- Firefighters with the Poudre Fire Authority said a fire sprinkler kept a fire contained inside a closet in a dorm room on the Colorado State University Campus.

The fire broke out Tuesday night at Ingersoll Hall. When the first crews arrived they found heavy smoke pouring from the first floor of the three-story concrete dorm. Police evacuated the building.

Once firefighters got inside they found a large amount of smoke in the first floor room and a small fire inside a closet. One fire sprinkler was activated and the blaze was quickly extinguished.

Damage from the fire was contained to linens and the closet. Smoke and water damage affected eight surrounding rooms and a small portion of the hallway.

Most students are expected to be back in their rooms by the end of today.

Fire investigators said the fire is suspicious.
